Anyone here live in Virginia Beach know Ron Shuler?
I am sending out a warning - do not let him do any plumbing work for you! He is ripping people off and doing very poor work leaving quite a few people with more problems that started with. Wondering if anyone else has had the same trouble with this person??

About How bad is the current recession being felt in the Virginia Beach area
How bad is the current recession being felt in the Virginia Beach area? ?
I am considering relocating there sometime soon, although am a bit skeptical with the current unemployment rates on the rise. I am experienced in the building trades. My wife is leaning towards waitressing (she worked the casinos in NY for years). Any advice would be appreciated, including housing, gas prices, etc. THANKS

Everything in VA Beach is expensive and your wife is not going to make the kind of money here that she made in NY. You might want to consider nearby Chesapeake or Suffolk instead. Much more reasonably priced and there's still building going on in those areas. Lowest gas prices around here: $3.19. If you want to relocate to VA Beach for the beach, it is within driving distance of all the cities in the area and there are other beaches as well.

About do you have to take someone to court in the city the work was preformed in or can any neighboring city work
do you have to take someone to court in the city the work was preformed in or can any neighboring city work?
i am a contractor and i did work on a proprerty in Virginia Beach, VA. the property owner will not pay and im wondering can i file in the very next neighboring city or does it have to be filled in the city the work was done in?

About How much can I reasonably accept to make in virginia beach
How much can I reasonably accept to make in virginia beach?
I am a Navy Fire Controlman about to transition out of the Navy. I have 12 years time and have worked with electronics. I have been hearing varying things regarding military training being ignored by employers and the "economy". I know 4 people who have gotten out recently all without a degree and and they all make over 45k.

I got out of the Navy in 09 as an electronics technician (subs). I have been unemployed since. Though I am in WA state alot of jobs are on the East Coast. I am from VA and can tell you more likely your going to be able to get a job in Tysons Corner, Alexandria, Arlington...near DC. take a look at BAEsystems website as well as Lockheed Martin. As far as people you know. We all "know" people if you know what I mean. Until your in the position your self its hard to see what can happen. Good luck to you and hope you find something soon. In VA Beach realistically youll make between 35-45 a year. Go up to those other places...45+ easily.

About are there any local art galleries in the virginia beach area
are there any local art galleries in the virginia beach area?
I am trying to find somewhere to go and find all original local art work. Where I am from there were tons of these but I can't find any here. Please help if you are in the area thanks

If you live here now and can wait a little bit there's an art show on the Boardwalk Sept 28-30 as part of the Neptune festival. Its fantastic and I've bought several things there. Majority of artists are still from the south east if not from VA Beach but you may be able to get to know some of the local artists by going there. Its basically 30+ blocks of art.
